Attractive rates of pay

Our rates of pay are based on a nationally agreed pay level. Salaries are reviewed on 1 April each year. In addition to cost of living increases, employees are awarded a rise within their grade each year until they reach the maximum salary for their post.

Staff benefits

Whilst it is true that pay accounts for a high proportion of the benefit you receive at work, there are a number of other employee benefits available to staff that increase the value of your total reward package as an SSDC employee.  Take 5 minutes to read through My Benefits to find out more.

Investing in you

We actively encourage and support our employees to gain the skills and qualifications to support their future employability and meet the needs of our organisation.

Staff have access to a wide range of learning methods, from e-learning, workshops, mentoring, development programmes and on-the-job training.

Time off work for agreed learning courses may be part of your personal development and is normally allowed subject to the discretion of your manager and the needs of your service.

If you have worked for us for more than a year, you can apply for a substantial loan to help cover the costs of learning courses or professional qualifications.
