Wincanton Parish Neighbourhood Area Application

Application by Wincanton Town Council to designate a neighbourhood area

Wincanton Town Council has applied to South Somerset District Council for the designation of a neighbourhood area under The Neighbourhood Planning (General) Regulations 2012. The area proposed covers the whole of the parished area of Wincanton and is the first step for Wincanton Town Council in preparing a Neighbourhood Plan*.

The application can be viewed below and copies can also be inspected at the main Council Offices, Brympton Way, Yeovil.

Please note that this is a formal regulatory stage of the designation of the neighbourhood area and not a consultation on the neighbourhood plan itself which will follow in due course should this application to designate a neighbourhood area be approved by the District Council. To make a representation on the proposed neighbourhood area please send comments to or to Spatial Policy, Council Offices, Brympton Way, Yeovil, Somerset BA20 2HT.

The consultation runs from 27 June 2013 until 5.15pm on 15 August 2013. All comments received will be made publicly available therefore cannot be treated as confidential.

*A Neighbourhood Plan is a community-led framework for guiding the future development, regeneration and conservation of a Parish (or group of parishes). It may contain a vision, aims, planning policies, proposals for improving the area or providing new facilities, or allocation of key sites for specific kinds of development. It can deal with a wide range of social, economic and environmental issues (such as housing, employment, heritage and transport) or it may focus on one or two key local issues only.
