Planning system is to protect the environment
The purpose of the planning system is to protect the
environment and the interests of the public. It is not designed to
protect the interests of one person over another.
What is a breach of planning
control?
Generally, a breach of control is the carrying out of
development without the required permission and failing to comply
with any condition or limitation of planning
permission.
What will we do?
- The planning history of the site will be checked and if the
alleged breach is found to have approval, you will be notified
accordingly.
- If it is necessary to visit the site, the visit will normally
be made in accordance with the procedure set out in the enforcement
policy.
- If the matter cannot be resolved by negotiation then formal
action (Requisition for information/Planning Contravention
Notice, Breach of Condition Notice, Enforcement Notice, Stop
Notice, Injunctions) may follow.
If you are concerned over a particular development then please
contact us with as much information as possible or
complete the Breach of planning complaint form and posting
it to South Somerset District Council, Brympton Way, Yeovil,
Somerset, BA20 2HT or email planning@southsomerset.gov.uk
Anonymous complaints will not be prioritised. Please note we do
not investigate neighbour or boundary disputes.
