4. A last night of the Proms concert

Listen to the British Philharmonic Concert Orchestra perfrom the classics.

The principal beneficiary of this year's concert is to be Fiveways School, Yeovil with additional support of the Club's Nepal School project and other charities assisted by the Yeovil Rotary Club.

5. Wincanton Racecourse Open Day

 Friday 19 October, Wincanton Racecourse

Wincanton Racecourse will be opening its doors to the public on  Friday, October 12 to show off its new facilities ahead of its first  meeting of the new season which begins Friday, October 19.

Anyone with an interest whether as a racegoer, delegate or golf player, is invited to come and see the refurbishment during a tour and presentation which starts at 11am.

An opportunity to join Michael Jordan, botanist, writer and broadcaster who has been studying and collecting fungi throughout Britain and Europe for more than 25 years.

Join us to help find and identify fungi found at Chard Reservoir. Discover stink horns and turkey tails any many more.

Booking is essential, tickets cost £6 per place, not suitable for children under 8.  All children must be accompanied by an adult.

7. Lantern Decorating at Ham Hill Country ParkLights

Monday 29 October, 10:30am

Paint and decorate your own lantern ready for the Ham Hill Bonfire procession. Paints, jars and decorations will be provided, but you are welcome to bring your own small jar.

Drop in session, no need to book.

This is a free event - donation are appreciated.

Thursday 5 October - Monday 29 October, Various Locations
Following the success of the previous Yeovil Literary Festivals, the 2018 festival will once again see an exciting programme of literature and arts events from well-known literary figures, comedians, celebrities and exciting new writers.
The festival is a not-for-profit partnership between The Octagon Theatre (part of South Somerset District Council), Waterstones, Yeovil Community Arts Association and Somerset Library Service.
Tickets range from £5 to £40.
